Cancellations and refunds, no nonsense.
Last updated: 17 September 2026 · Effective: 17 September 2026
Sift subscriptions are purchased through Google Play. This policy explains your cancellation and refund rights. It does not affect your statutory rights under UK or EU consumer law — those always apply.
1. How subscriptions work
Sift offers two paid plans:
Payment is processed by Google Play at the start of each billing period. Sift never stores your payment card details — that's handled entirely by Google.
2. How to cancel
You can cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play:
- Open the Google Play Store app on your device.
- Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Find Sift and tap Cancel subscription.
Cancellation is effective immediately in the sense that you won't be charged again — but you keep access to your paid features until the current billing period ends. For example, if you subscribed on the 1st of the month and cancel on the 15th, you continue to have Cloud Brain access until the end of the month.
After the period ends, your account automatically reverts to the free plan. Your data remains intact and accessible; you just lose cloud sync and AI features until you resubscribe.
3. Refund eligibility
Standard refund window
If you subscribed and want a refund, you can request one through Google Play within their standard window (typically 48 hours for new subscriptions). Google Play's refund policy applies, and Google makes the final decision on refund requests made through their system.
Requesting a refund directly from us
If Google Play's window has passed, you may still contact us at privacy@heysift.app to request a refund. We will consider requests on a case-by-case basis, particularly if:
- There was a technical fault preventing you from using the service.
- You were charged twice for the same period.
- You were charged after cancellation due to a billing error.
We do not generally offer refunds simply because you changed your mind after the billing cycle is well underway, but we'll always try to be fair.
4. Your UK consumer rights
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you normally have a 14-day "cooling-off" period for digital services during which you can cancel and get a full refund.
However, when you subscribe through Google Play and your subscription begins immediately, you are asked to acknowledge that by choosing to start the service right away, you agree that you lose your right to cancel under the 14-day cooling-off period once the service has commenced. This is a standard provision allowed under Regulation 36 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
This does not affect your other statutory rights, including the right to a remedy if the service is not as described or is defective.
5. EU users
If you are based in the EU, the same principle applies — you may lose your right of withdrawal for digital content once delivery has begun with your prior consent, in line with the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU). If you have a complaint that we cannot resolve, you may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
6. Account deletion vs. subscription cancellation
Deleting your Sift account and cancelling your subscription are two different things.
- Cancelling your subscription stops future charges but keeps your account and all your data in the cloud. You drop to the free tier with limited AI quota.
- Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our servers within 30 days. This does not automatically cancel your subscription in Google Play — you must cancel your subscription separately in Google Play to stop future charges.
7. Questions?
