End User Licence Agreement (EULA)

Your licence to use the Sift app.

Last updated: 17 September 2026  ·  Effective: 17 September 2026

This End User Licence Agreement ("EULA") governs your use of the Sift mobile application (the "App") for Android. It is between you and the individual trading as Sift, based in the United Kingdom ("Licensor", "we", "us").

By downloading or using the App, you agree to this EULA. If you do not agree, do not download or use the App. This EULA works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which also apply to you.

1. Licence grant

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on a device you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.

This licence does not transfer ownership of the App to you. We (and our licensors) retain all rights, title, and interest in the App, including all intellectual property rights.

2. What you may not do

You may not:

3. Device permissions

The App requests the following device permissions. Here's why:

Microphone

To record voice entries. The app only records when you press the microphone button — it never listens in the background.

Notifications

To send task reminders and your weekly summary. You can revoke this permission at any time in your phone's Settings.

Internet access

Required to sync your data with our servers (paid tiers), authenticate your account, and process AI tasks.

Start at boot

Allows the app to reschedule local task reminders after your phone restarts, so you don't miss notifications.

Camera / storage (if used)

Only accessed when you choose to photograph a receipt or upload an image. The app does not access your camera or photo library without your explicit action.

4. In-app purchases and subscriptions

The App offers optional paid subscriptions (Cloud Brain and BYOK). These are purchased through Google Play. By subscribing, you agree to Google Play's Terms of Service as well as this EULA.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play settings.

Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Google Play in accordance with their refund policy. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for more details.

5. Third-party services

The App integrates with third-party services including Google (Firebase, Sign-In), OpenRouter (AI processing), Mailgun, and Amazon Web Services. Your use of these services through the App is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or actions of these third parties.

6. Updates

We may release updates to the App from time to time to fix bugs, add features, or comply with legal requirements. We recommend keeping the App updated. We may discontinue support for older versions. Updates are distributed through Google Play and are subject to Google Play's terms.

7. Intellectual property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is protected by intellectual property laws. "Sift" and the Sift logo are trademarks of the Licensor. Nothing in this EULA transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including loss of data.

Nothing in this EULA affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer protection law.

9. Termination

This licence continues until terminated. It terminates automatically if you violate any of its terms. You may also terminate it by uninstalling the App and deleting your account.

On termination, you must stop using the App and uninstall it from your devices. Sections 7 (Intellectual Property) and 8 (Disclaimer) survive termination.

10. Governing law

This EULA is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local law applies.
